    2 days of silence.

Is no one working on their cars?

    I'm installing my race seat.

Probably going to be putting a new float/sending unit in my Cooper, gas (oops, petrol) gauge has been acting a little funky.

Busy car week for me. Pulled the head off the Spitfire race car looking for the reason for the low compression and the oil leak, I expected to find a cracked or warped head but I got lucky for a change, it was just the head gasket. Bad news is I need a new custom, .060 thick solid Copper gasket but they're still available. My last run with the car I knocked 4 seconds off my best time at Limerock with the new engine down on power. I can't wait until next year and and see how it runs with full power.

Next project was my son's 72 Spitfire. The car had low compression since we bought it two years ago and the clutch we replaced over the summer started slipping after only a hundred miles or so.

He's home for Thanksgiving from college so we pulled the engine and tranny. He's getting pretty good at it, helped me out enough times with the race car motor. We had it out in about two hours, found a broken bolt on the clutch pressure plate that may have been the cause of the slipping but the flywheel looks like it may be warped too. If I can't get it turned down I'll clean up one of my old ones from the race car spares and put it on.

We pulled the motor apart and found 3 top rings broken. The engine was very clean inside, I suspect one of the previous owners did a recent (miles wise, the car sat with out being used for years before I bought it) rebuild and didn't gap the rings right the PO started it up with rust on the cylinder walls. I know someone's been in the engine, one of the pistons has been replaced and nothing has very much wear on it. I'll get the parts together and we'll finish this father - son project over Christmas break so the cars ready to go in the spring.

Third car activity was buying a 12x20 portable garage from Tractor Supply on Black Friday. Both my kids helped me put that up today so I have a place to store the GT6 and the "new" GRM GT6 parts car over the winter.

Tomorrow I think it's time for the last leaf round up.

Busy, busy, my brother and his girlfriend came to visit. We were at Crash-A-Rama last night. Good times watching motorized mayhem. Today we went to the AACA show here in Ormond Beach, Fla.

Not working on them......driving them. Drove the Opel GT around town some. Also rode with a friend in his Midget in a back road cruise. Two 2002's, 1 TR6, 1 RHD MGB GT and 1 Midget. My Opel still needs a front end alignment and the 15 year old tires replaced before it does a spirited country drive. I'll be taking my 3 weeks use-or-lose leave in Dec and plan on remeding that issue while I'm off work.

You know, that looks a bit like a WWII fighter seat. I think youll have to get a parachute for that to work right.
