  I've never been one to rate one brand over another. I like all cars! ... But not necessarily all car owners.

  These days, owning and driving ANY brand of LBC seems to make one a "brother in arms"... Likewise, the Volvo vs. Saab rivarly means nothing to me... While I own a 1800ES, I'd also like to get a classic Saab 95 eventually.

  And although I'm partial to Mopars, the anti-Chevy or Ford sentiment never made sense to me.

  I have friends who wouldn't stop to help a disabled Japanese classic, but I would. There are a couple of old Japanese cars I'd like to own (mainly a '77 Celica LB).

  Basically, I like cars. Old, new, Euro, USA, Asian... doesn't really matter. I agree about owners, though...

  Along the same lines, what about rat-rod vs. traditionally restored classics? I know people who shun the former, but I figure it's all a form of the same affliction, and since a lot of the rat-rodders seem to be kids, I think it's important for the future of the hobby to welcome them and show support. They may do things differently now, but then again, who among us didn't have some odd (and, okay, awful) ideas about automotive style when we were newly hatched adults?

  I have my favorites, but really anything that runs on gasoline and rolls on rubber tires is worth supporting.

  I have made exceptions for expensive modern exotics, because folks who can afford them shouldn't need my help to maintain or repair them. Call AAA, pal.

  My Triumph buddies in the U.K. would drive right past an MG owner stranded along side the road. Geez, and we think the Ford vs. Chevy guys are harsh. Of course I have my favorites, but at the end of the day I like them all. Different strokes for different folks. Cheers, Scott

  Most of my LBC mates at the track have no tolerance for Porsche owners. It's the perceived arrogance.................. some deserved.

  Having gone from superior Italian cars to an inferior British car, I've learned to curb my disdain for certain types of cars. Well, except French cars. But I wouldn't fail to stop and assist the owner of any vintage vehicle.

  New cars, I'm likely to ignore you. The last 3 times I've stopped to assist women with flats or what-have-you, they have all nicely declined. They would rather wait for the cavalry they called via cell phone to show up than have me fix their car in mere minutes. Their choice.

  IIRC that cartoon is a takeoff of an old Brockbank cartoon from R&T in the late 60s. That version had a Mini (800cc) and a Fiat 500 (600cc) with a similar line. I'll see if I can find/scan/post it.
