I'm in the market to buy a lift for my garage. My buddy has a Benpack, but I don't have that type of budget. Anyone have any suggestions on companies or brands that I should look at?

First, welcome. Second, I bought my BendPak four poster about 4 years ago for $2100 shipped. You're not going to get a ALI certified lift for much less than that. And personally, I wouldn't buy a lift that wasn't ALI certified. What's your budget, and what type of lift do you want?
Sometimes I wonder "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?", and then it hits me.

What he said. What do you want the lift for? Do you have a ceiling height issue to deal with? Budget?
Lift types have various pluses and minuses depending on the above conditions as well as budget. Service lifts aren't always great for storage and vice-versa.

My neighbor got one from a gas station that was being torn down, for free. He had to dig it out of the ground and get it home himself.
I use it all the time!

I probably should have given more details. Thanks for your replies. I'd like to keep it around $2000 or not much more. Using my tax check. I think a base plate lift might be the way to go. I'm gonna try to work on friends and family vehicles in my spare time to make some extra money. I found this one last night, but have a little time to look around.
