Excuse the lack of captions and editing for the gallery above, kinda got over run by family duties tonight :)

So yes, I drove to work. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Ottawa traffic is a PITA. And I was less then comfortable parking the GT6 in the garage.

Anyhow on to the good stuff.

Last fall, the unit I worked for shot some awesome footage at the 2007 Battle of Britain event here in Ottawa.

The fly-by featured Mr. Potter's fleet of WWII birds from http://www.vintagewings.ca/page?s=65 and a Lancaster.

We used the event to help train some of our new members to advance their still and video skills.

Unfortunately the footage sat idle for a few months due to our operation tempo, but that did not sit well with me. So when the new batch of summer hires came in I tagged one with the huge task of piecing a project together.

    Well she aced her assignment.

Today, we drove down and presented the video the museum staff. And of course I could simply not pass up the chance to take the 6 down for photo op, yes she is unwashed and some shots cam out hot, but damn I've never been in a real flying WWII fighter plane.

All in all an outstanding day.

PS if you watch the video, my money shot is the actual fly by, which is outstanding when viewed in HD.

    A.

Andre: I went to the air museum in Galveston, TX with 3 visitors from Ottawa. Car restorers all we were very impressed with the effort to keep these flying.

Yeah the owner is serious about his work.

The hanger is well setup and they are currently doing a work up on a F-86 Sabre.

Funny as a car guy the first thing I commented on when I walked into the hanger last year was, nice floor. heheheh

I crawled around some of the vintage warplanes and will never complain about my car seats again without thinking of the utilitarian interiors these guys had.

    Cheers Ron

Totally, I mean I could barely see all the controls in the plane. I think I was meant to fly a bomber or something hehe
