  Yikes Andre ... you're not thinkin' what I think your thinkin' are ya? Maybe a snow blower or a lawn mower on a tiny utility trailer from Home Depot. But not a Fiat 124 race car on a 4-wheeler! The last thing you want is for the tail to wag the dog. (No pun intended).

  Andre - what/where/when are you towing? there must be other options besides taxing the GT6...can you not borrow something?? Worse case scenario might be to rent a 1/2 ton truck and trailer from u-haul...

  Tegler tows a reasonable sized trailer with FIS6 - probably a couple of hundred pounds (EZ up; EFI display; other stuff), although I'm not sure how much farther than from his house near Baltimore up to Carlisle, PA.

  A friend had a Lloyd panel that he used for a tow vehicle.

  It had a 454 V8 and a 4x4 Jeep chassis.

  gt6 is very weak in the diff and axles !would be foolish to tow anything with it!

  To finish first, you must first finish.

  To finish at all, you must first start the race. And to do that, you must get there before the race starts. That may not always happen towing with a GT6. But what do I know, I tow with a truck as old as I am...

  As I mentioned earlier in this thread, do not put yourself into a situation in which the trailer is going to severely influence the directional stability of the tow vehicle, and that would definitely happen if you tried to do what you’re thinking about doing. Drivetrain capability or vehicle reliability doesn’t matter. Safety matters. The GT6 is just too light to tow a race car and trailer. Do not attempt it. Ottawa to Mosport involves about a couple hundred miles of mostly freeway driving. You won't make it.

  Andre -- If it's only an interim situation until you acquire a tow vehicle and trailer, then I would vote for finding some one who is not using their rig on the dates you need... or the rental approach. I wouldn't want to have you behind me going into Calabogie or down to Mosport if you're using the GT6...

  Haha, no. Way too much. A few hundred pounds, perhaps. But a ton, no way. Sure, you could make it move, but stopping it, not so nice. Same with controlling it.

  even a Fiat 500 would look ridiculous behind a GT6,the towcar must be more substantial than whats being towed i think youd find your towbar manufacturer would limit it. to 500kg . towbars have to be certified over here, and a capacity limit set!

  Couldn't even come close you'd wreck the trans and overheat the 6. Probably wreck the frame as well. You also need brakes on a trailer to tow safely Elec brakes. Pickups come with towing packages and brake controllers, not for fun but because its needed

  Not to promote a bad practice, but....

  Back in the 80's when we raced a Sunbeam Alpine with Rocky Mt Vintage Racing, I used for one season a Ford Fiesta as a tow vehicle when I had nothing else. The Fiesta (front wheel drive of course) had a very lively engine and the Alpine had two wheels up on a tow dolly, but the whole package worked as long as I exercised extreme caution and attentiveness. The final race of the season at that time was at Steamboat Springs ski area and yes, I successfully towed the Alpine to and from the race through the mountains of Colorado. Back then, I did whatever I had to in order to get to a race.

  Again, this is not something I would suggest to others to try given how many things I was doing wrong (light wt tow vehicle, no substantial frame, FRONT WHEEL DRIVE!, home built tow hitch, no trailer brakes on a home built tow dolly) but the key to my success was being overly cautious as anyone towing must be. And no, I wouldn't think of doing it again. My current rig is all wheel drive w/ 5000 lb capacity and brakes, towing an aluminum trailer.

  All I know is there is a guy at the local autocross club who tows his street legal GT6 to every event.

  Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it, you will die a horrible death. Really, it's unsafe.
