  hey everyone I have been considering a su carb change from a cis set-up in a porsche 924. I realize it is perhaps somewhat unorthodox (maybe the standard is more of a weber dcoe 40 or 45mm). But after talking with several su people british, japanese these sound lie a very versatile and hp oriented carb with a reliable year round element to them. My current set-up includes an aftermarket bae turbo that should work alla mini or corvair ideas. I was kind of looking for any thoughts about this from people with more experience than I with these carbs. I think that it may create a unique set-up that is reliable and somewhat performance oriented - any thoughts or ideas are very welcome and appreciated.

  The SU carb is a clever design, really. The problem is, like most things British, they wear out pretty quickly. The throttle shafts will develop leaks, so I'd be suspicious of any used one that hasn't been thoroughly checked or rebuilt by an SU specialist.

  Setting them up can be a bit of a bugger too as you need a selection of needles and so forth, and it should be done on a dyno, particularly with a custom setup as you describe.

  Not a terrible idea, but honestly, I think I'd be adapting a Megasquirt injection system to something like that for all the effort it will take.

  An SU-fed turbocharged Porsche 924 would definitely score points for being unique. As the online community would say, pictures, please!

  No more so than a Weber of any type. Or ANY carb for that matter, you still have to match airflow and jets/needles.
