Irv Gordon and his Volvo pop up in the news every now and then. The car seems likely to outlast its owner.

Cool little piece. The surprise for us (being PA/NJ folks) was the Duane cameo. We haven't seen him in a few years, shortly after he built the new shop and he mentioned working on Irv's engine rebuild.

Haven't seen Duane since 2001 at Watkins Glen, but we talk now and then. Sure was sorry to see him get out of vintage racing.

When we saw him, he still had his 1800 racer, but was trying to sell the S40 cars... haven't heard anything since. We did hear recently that he's only doing race-engine builds, not wanting to deal with street cars.

Good video clip. I saw Duane racing his 1800 at Lime Rock a few years back. Beautiful race car. Superb craftsmanship in the build. I've seen Irv several times over the past few years, most recently last summer during Swedish Car Day at the Larz Anderson museum. His car looks better each time I see it. Man, it makes me want to buy an 1800!
