    Healey updated #96.

I have the fuel tank off at Sims Radiator, here in Lawrenceville, GA. They're going to dip it, strip it, and coat the inside for 125 bucks. I'll let you all know how it comes out.

This really was in a barn a looonnnngg way away! A '67 Porsche 911S Sunroof Coupe (less than 100 made!)has been rescued from obscurity - found it through a circuitous path - an ad in a UK magazine (which the seller claimed to know nothing about) led me to the far north of British Columbia, just south of the Northwest Territories (how the car got up there is anyone's guess, maybe military, or possibly Santa's personal toy?))

A friend of mine found this A40 Somerset. I love it. Cool column shift

I see that Green TR7 behind it but that A40 is much better. Speaking of Ran When Parked, I am about to post something but my image is 1600x1024. What should I size it to? Sense this one is not in a barn I will post mine here also. They are under a tree.

In that yard there is a TR7, Austin Princess, Vauxhall PA Cresta, Vauxhall Victor, 1959 Cadillac x2, Volvo Station Wagon, Citroen DS. All belong to a pair of my friends. I have a couple pics: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=caj&w=21612624%40N00

I think one of the sedans need to be prepped for racing as an early British Touring Car. The convert is too far shot but the most important parts to make any 2 door coupe into a convert, are there.

Please let me know what you got it for. A friend of mine just found one in a barn buried under boxes. I have no idea what to offer, but I'm interested.

How do you guys find these??? I have been trying to chase down a Bugeye Sprite that I have been lead to believe lives in a pole shed close to me. I met the owner when we just moved to the village in February and I think he was a ghost, no one seems to know him or the car! The town is only 750 people! You'd think that a LBC couldn't hide that well!

And I cannot tell you how many times (at least four) I have traveled to see a "Land Rover" that is "just sitting there." My score on those chases is: 2 Land Cruisers, 1 Jeep, and 1 pile of rusty metal that once was a car, or a truck, or maybe a couple of old washing machines.

If it doesn't leak... it's not mine!

About 20 minutes away from me is a chap who bought out a 'Welsh' BMC body shop in the '60s...he shipped everything over here and it all sits in a warehouse. I got in there about a year ago looking for Wolseley rocker/sills. About a 500 body panels, each with a little painted number on it...hundreds of exhaust systems, doors, hoods, trunks, packaged parts... have offered to inventory it and get no answer!!! Some day it will be the 'mother load' and the photos will hit the net like that 'Portugese Barn'!!!!!

    resurrecting this post!

The Healey starts and runs, but seems to have developed a fuel pickup problem (probably because the radiator shop did the coating on the inside of the tank.

The clutch was stuck, but encouragement from the BCF (british car forum) told me to just start it up in gear, then gas it a couple times. It worked. the clutch is unstuck, and I'm looking forward to getting it on the road in the next couple of months.

Great to see all these old cars getting a second chance.

My A35 sat in a barn in Ontario for years (10 at least, but 10 more in a previous barn).

The first picture below shows how I found it. The second picture below (on the trailer) shows it home at my place in NJ after 22 hours of almost non-stop driving.

I am doing mechanical work on the future engine and suspension right now.

    ~THIS~ is my goal.

    Enjoy Every Sandwich ~ W.Z.

I saw your post over at GRM. I think that doing it up vintage racing style would be really cool.

Thanks for starting this post back up. Have spent all this winter/off auto-x season reading up on big Healeys, MGs, Triumphs, LBCs in general. Gives me hope of finding a LBC for myself. Speaking of old posts/barn finds, Tim what ever happend to the MG TD your brother found?

  • Bryan

    Feb. 9, 2009 10:04 a.m. Bryan Reader

I'm sorry, it was Joe Gearin asking about the MG TD. My bad. Joe, what ever happened with that MG?

  • Joe Gearin

    Feb. 9, 2009 4:25 p.m. Joe Gearin Associate Publisher

The MG TD in question was owned by a neighbor of my brother's. A buyer was found, and the car is now long gone. Hopefully it went to a good home, and we will see it again!
