Started to tear into my seats.

I will wire wheel them and paint them this coming week.

Doesn't look like much fun but the frame looks salvageable. I should have taken pictures of the seats I pulled from my 2001 Jeep. The frame around the bottom had disintegrated completely so all that was left was the foam.

Ouch, yeah these will get a good grinding and paint job this coming week.

I look forward to testing out the new trim kit too.

I saved all the claps and took photos so I know how to get them back together.

Andre, I just ordered the skins for my Spitfire seats over the weekend. My wife is getting into redoing the interior, over the last month she's made new door skins and is currently working on the center hump armrest.

What are you going to do about the foam? Do you have a good source for it yet? The pre cut sections cost more than the seat skins. When I re did the seats in my Merc, I used a combination of horsehair mats and cotton batting. I'm not sure that would be the best solution for a seat that probably will see rain.

She plans on getting some high density foam locally and cutting them herself. She's taken some upholstery classes so this project has a shot at getting finished. I'll post some picks when she starts taking things apart.

I'm right there with you Andre. The TR-6's seats are in sad, sad shape. I'll need to bite the bullet soon and order a new recovering kit.

I know that Moss has everything I need for a pretty reasonable price, but are there other good options you guys have experienced?

I was very limited in my suppliers due to the colour, but for me the UK suppliers were still cheaper then the US.

I found the best prices right now are direct from the UK too, even when you add in shipping. I used these folks, They had favorable reviews on some other boards. I'll post here when the parts arrive and the work starts.

I completely redid the seats in my MGB last summer. They were functional, but the vinyl was started to tear at the seams. So, I stripped and repainted the frames, new backer board, new foam, and new leather covers. It was more work than I expected but it came out looking good. Went ahead and did the rest of the interior as well (panels, carpet). Early model MGB seats are simple, fortunately.

The front seat cushion in my Dart is filled with polyester batting. Nobody that I'm aware of makes reproduction foam for it.
