  I'm in no hurry. I still have a garage to finish cleaning, but if you see (or have) anything close to these please keep me in mind.

  Looking for V8s only and really prefer manual trannys:

  1965-1970 coupe 1974 (I know, no V8 here)-1978 fastback. 1979-1993 coupe

  Not looking for show cars -I'm one cheap MoFo. I'd like to stay within a few hours of SW/WCentral Ohio.

  I've had my eye on a few, but haven't pulled the trigger on any. I'm just trying to take advantage of the GRM "family" and your connectons.

  Let me just throw this out there, since I've done this before.

  An early Mustang was the first car that I ever wanted, the first car that I ever purchased and the first car that I ever restored. I've owned two of them and I've restored a couple more for members of the family.

  If you're looking for a beautiful old car to take to cruise nights, is easy to restore and that everyone will talk to you about, Mustangs are perfect.

  If you're looking for a car that you will enjoy driving, look elsewhere. Mustangs need more power, less weight, modern steering and better suspension to keep up with an '89 Civic on the street. You'll also want better seats and some sound deadening to be comfortable.

  I'm not trying to discourage you from owning one, just to make you aware. I spent many years loving these cars and then the next fifteen years trying to keep that love alive. They are old cars. You need to be ready to accept that.

  All this from the guy who's currently looking for a Model T.

  Not a problem, Woody. I appreciate any input.

  I'm not going into this blindly though. It's something I've been thinking about doing for some time now and have been doing my research, keeping my eyes and ears open, looking at various car at car shows to see what I like, what I don't and what it would take to get there. Car show entrants are usually ready to talk about their rides freely and that's always a big help. Also, my mom had a '65 Mustang with a 289 3-speed and then a '72 Mustang with the 351 HO option (wish I'd kept THAT car!), so I know these cars shortcomings as far as being a DD. This is one of the reasons I was looking at the (dreaded) Mustang IIs. I like the rack and pinion steering, light weight (relatively) and V8 option. I might try to make an Auto-Xer out of it just to be different.

  Anyway...the fun is in the journey sometimes and not necessarily the destination.

  Not enough of a project. I'd hate to mess with one in such nice shape. Did you see the Cobra II on the local eBay that just went for $6200.00???

  I have a 68 GT fastback project that I could let go for about 3500...

  It is definitely a project. all the parts are there, but it needs some floorpan rust repair, and the engine is not original to the car, and may need to be rebuilt. has manual trans and 302 included though. It's sat for quite a while.

  I think my dad has a 351? powered automatic 1970 car, that needs alot less to get going as a weekend warrior. I can ask him what he wants for it if you are interested.

  Mine is in Michigan, my dads is in Georgia.
