    Here

Not mine, but it appears to be a relatively clean 1996 318 Ti with a 325is Motor swapped in, and is in need of a clutch... $2000

I am seriously considering offering him $1000-$1250 and seeing if he takes it, what does everyone think?

    That could be fun!

Lowball him/her... fix/rig stuff and then do the cheapest turbo kit and bring a fun car to the Challenge.

this is exactly what I was thinking!

I already emailed the owner, waiting on a response... If the clutch is completely gone, I will have to rent something to get it back to me though (about 5 hours away)

Keep in mind that upgrading your raccoon to an FM Super Raccoon is only effective if you have the factory raccoon option. Retrofitting one to a raccoonless model is typically disappointing.

okay, I got a confirmation that the clutch works and grips just fine but to quote the seller "makes a squeeking and clicking noise"....

sounds like a pilot/throwout/master/slave cylinder problem to me... :)

I have a buddy that can drive it to me when he comes down in a few weeks...

now to negotiate a price... :)

okay, I got this from the seller today...

"It is (the clutch? the tranny?) a grinding noise. About the swap i do not have much information on it because i bought the car that way with the engine already installed the engine now has 103600 miles. The price is negotiable."

hmmm, offer him $1000 and see if he bites? how hard is it to swap a tranny in an e36? anyone have a source for cheap ones?

You need a bunch of long 3/8" extensions, some six point sockets and a little ingenuity jacking the motor to reach the top but its relatively easy once you get the gist.

If its clicking and grinding on shifts - it could just be a bad clutch slave or clutch. Assume the worst, hope for the best... either way, if you can get it for $1000 snag it.

ahh, this sounds almost exactly like a miata clutch job then! :)

I am having a buddy in the jacksonville area test drive it tomorrow and tell me how bad the tranny is, then I will make an offer, and have my buddy drive it to me (Crestview, FL)

I did this swap in a buddy's Ti and that is soooooo worth it!

I wish I was closer to FL. I'd buy it!

You can sale that as a swap kit for $1000+ with in the 318Ti.org community. If you parted the car out you could easily make the money back out of it.

My buddy's is fast a crap and a hoot to race mustangs with being that is has the 318 badge still on it!

I am thinking DD duties for a little while (it has A/C, my miata doesn't)... at least until christmas time, then when I get my new truck, sell the miata, turbo the bimma ($500+/- on ebay) and megasquirt it after replacing the clutch/tranny... :)

is your buddies also a 325is motor?

    how fast is it?

what all is done to it?

Is it bad that I am already picking out a wheel/tire combo for this thing?

    (TRMotorsport C2's in 17" x 8.5" and Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star specs in 245/40/17) :)

Wow! I hope I can be even remotely as lucky in my search. I need to find some retail patience, which I have zero usually. I'm so giddy, the aftermarket for E36's is better than sex at Disney with your ultimate fantasy!

Looking for a low budget 325i or 325is in a running driving state. 4 door 5 speed Sunroof preferably working A/C

    Anyone know of anything :-)
