I was introduced to motorsports in college--my summer job was working as a motorcycle messenger in Washington DC. It was death-defying work, and groups of us would blast out to Summit Point on the weekends. I went from Hondas and Yamahas to Guzzis and Ducatis, and then on to a Karmann Ghia. Things just got worse from there. I own a GRM project car (the Volvo 122), and a bunch of other trash.
